NSS foundation day celebrated at RBU

MOHALI: Rayat Bahra University celebrated NSS Foundation Day by organizing a webinar on ‘Role of Youth in NSS’. Rayat Bahra University has 5 NSS units and each NSS unit consists of 100 NSS volunteers who keep on participating in various activities in nation building.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, said that the university was committed to serving the society. He said that it was offering scholarship schemes for the needy and meritorious students and also undertaking other community services in adopted villages by Rayat Bahra University.

Dr Jaspal Singh from SMHS Government College, Phase-6, Mohali was the resource person. He discussed the role and duties of NSS volunteers and motivated them to actively participate in community services.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University highlighted the community services organized by Rayat Bahra University on regular basis in the form of free medical and health checkup camps, blood donation camps, HIV/AIDS awareness camps and drug de-addiction camps.

He motivated the youth to join NSS and contribute their bit towards the society and to benefit the society by rendering services in different fields of life.

Prof BS Satyal, Registrar, Rayat Bahra University, motivated the youth to be part of NSS, NCC and other sports activities and to channelize their energy in the right direction.

Dr Simerjit Kaur, Dean of Students Welfare, was the organizing secretary of the NSS Day programme and briefed about the origin and significance of celebrating NSS day. Dr Amita Mahajan, Head-Agriculture proposed a vote of thanks.
