KCVAS Organizes Farmers Training Program

AMRITSAR : Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Science (KCVAS) organized a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) training program under the Center of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI). The lectures and discussions on vital topics on agricultural production, value addition, FPO and various factors influencing the FPO’s were conducted. The participating members were from Punjab and Haryana state and training was conducted and Coordinated by Jaswant Singh Kalsi, Chief Operating Officer of CEDSI and S.S. Bali.

The training was sponsored by Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), New Delhi. A special session on livestock management and health was undertaken and coordinated by Dr. H.K. Verma, Principal, KCVAS. The participants appreciated the animal related session as their all doubts and queries were dealt with. The trainees thanked the KCVAS, CEDSI for the important training. Open discussion and question-answers rounds were conducted to judge the knowledge of the farmers gained from the training.

It is important to mention that CEDSI & KCVAS has a MOU for undertaking such training and skill related activities for the farmers. This is the second training was held as per the MOU between KCVAS and CEDSI. FPO is of the view that it is the need of the hour to help the small, landless and marginal farmers for marketing their agricultural produce at a remunerative price. FPO’s are sponsored by NABARD and it is an excellent initiative of the Government to hand hold the farmers in this crisis period, said Dr. Verma.

 Daoud Mohammad Khan from IGSSS, Delhi attended the training to observe the proceedings and reporting to the IGSSS. Dr. S.K. Nagpal, Managing Director, KCVAS, Dr. Barinder Singh, Assistant Professor were present.
