India Skills -2021 Regional Competition-North Held At Chitkara University By Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM)

PATIALA:Additional Deputy Commissioner (D), Patiala, Mr. Gautam Jain informed that a Skill Competition Held at Chitkara University in collaboration with National Skill Development Council (NSDC), Indian Plumbing Skill Council (IPSC), Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) and Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) in which India Skills regional competitions hosted from November 15th to 17th, 2021.

Divulging the details ADC (D) said that in this mega event, two skill competitions based on Plumbing & Heating and Automobile Technology were organized wherein 08 and 09 candidates took participation respectively. Students were adjudged on the parameters laid by India Skills. The jury for the both the events were industry experts from pan country and Mr. Upkar Singh from Punjab Skill Development Mission was there for the Supervision of whole event.

Mr. Gautam Jain told that in Plumbing and Heating competition, candidates took participation from different regions like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Orissa. Participants were provided with the drawings which were to be executed by them on the day of competition. They were asked to read and understand the drawings so that they can select the type of material and calculate the number of fixtures required and its type as per the drawing provided. On November 16th, 2021, event started at 9:00 AM. As sought, participants submitted their list of required fixtures. They were supposed to do the execution of Plumbing operations from the drawing using materials like CPVC, GI and PEX and SWR. A committee of 04 members were made to supervise the work done by the participants.

In Automobile technology, 09 candidates from various states took participation. They had been asked to perform four operations which were engine management, breaking system, electrical system and fault finding in engine system. In engine management operation participants were supposed to check the engine cranking system and fuel system. In breaking system they were asked to measure the break pad thickness and wear out of break disc router and in electrical systems, they were supposed to do the fault finding of the electrical system of car where as in engine overhauling, opening of engine, settings its timing and its fitting were involved.
