GNDU at 44th rank, breaks into elite club of to 50 universities at national level

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University has attained its all-time high National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2022 and has entered into elite club of top 50 Universities at national level. It is the only State Funded Public University of Northern Region (Jammu, Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh) to figure among top 44 positions in India.

Compared to previous year’s NIRF ranking, GNDU has up-scaled it’s ranking by 9 positions in 2022. Overall, GNDU has bagged 14th position as State Funded Public Universities amongst all Universities in this category in India. It is ranked higher than the Jamia Hamdard University, University of Bombay, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bangalore University, University of Kashmir and Tezpur University amongst many others. It is the only Public University of Punjab to attain NIRF ranking in the band of 1 to 150.

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu accounted high quality academics and highly cited research of the faculty as the prime factors besides prudent financial management behind the up-scaling of NIRF ranking to the current position. He said that the sincere efforts of the faculty of the University has earned name and fame to the University in India and abroad.

The quality research has improved the H-index of the University from 64 four years ago to 125 today. The University has performed exceedingly well in all the parameters set by NIRF for it’s ranking. The Vice Chancellor, while appreciating the efforts of faculty and staff, has expressed that the university will further improve it’s academics, research and outreach activities along with development of state-of-the-art infrastructure to achieve new heights in NIRF ranking in the times to come.
