37 get free hearing aids at Bahra Hospital camp

MOHALI: A total of 156 patients were examined for ear ailments and 37 were given free hearing aids at a camp for speech and hearing assessment cum hearing aids distribution at Bahra Super Specialty Hospital, a venture of Rayat Bahra University here today.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Promoter of the Bahra Super Specialty Hospital, who is also Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, said that the camp was organized to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The camp was held by the Rehabilitation research group in collaboration with the National Rehabilitation Institute (NRI) Chandigarh, and the SABH Foundation USA.

A highlight of the camp was that 105-year old Shanti devi got a hearing aid at the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Jaimanti Bakshi , Head Unit II ENT Department of the PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Bahra said that this was a novel effort by the Bahra Super Specialty Hospital to help the poor people of the area who could not afford to buy a hearing aid because of financial constraints. He said that the hospital was committed to providing specialized healthcare facilities to the people of the area so that they do not have to go far off places for treatment.

Dr Parvinder singh, vice-chancellor of RBU, Dr Suni Mariam, staff members of Bahra Hospital and senior faculty members of the university were also present.
