At least 400 Girl Students Awarded Degrees at SGTB College Convocation

AMRITSAR : At least 400 girl students from various graduate and post-graduate classes were awarded degrees and many others meritorious students were honored with gold medals during the annual Convocation of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College (SGTB) College for Women here today. Khalsa College Governing Council Honorary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who was the chief guest emphasized on the women education.

He said for a socially aware and developed society, the focus must be on the girl education. He said the Colleges like SGTB is playing crucial role in educating the women. He also asked the girls to be financially independent in life to get their rightful place and honour in the society. Chhina added that with the right attitude and behavior the girls can shine in any field of the society.

He said it was encouraging to see the girls marching into every sector which was considered to be the filed only for men in near past.

College Principal Nanak Singh read the progress report citing their achievements in academics, cultural activities and sports. He said that under the able leadership of KCGC, the College was progressing day and night and new infrastructural development has put the college in the forefront in education field.

Earlier Chhina congratulated the students who got degrees and those who earned medals and accolades for their achievements in past year. Joint Secretary Paramjit Singh Bal, SS Sethi, Principal Jagdish Singh, KCE GT Principal Dr. Harpreet Kaur, DS Rataul and Other.
