Patiala police arrests Barjinder Singh Parwana, six others in violence cases

PATIALA: The Patial police today arrested a Sikh preacher Barjinder Singh Parwana, the main accused in the violent incidents over issue of Khalistan in Patiala on April 29. The co-accused Harish Singla has already been arrested and sent on police remand.

Sukhwinder Singh Chheena Inspector General of Police Patiala and SSP Deepak Parikh today told media persons that Parwana was arrested from a house in Mohali on the basis of technical input. He said that police would present him before the magistrate to get police remand. He said that Parwana and Singla hatched the conspiracy and more details would come out during police remand.

Chheena said that Shankar Bharadwak district president of Shiv Sena Bal Thakrey and Glogi Pandit who posted provicative posts in social media have also been arrested. He said that three other accused Shivdev Singh resident of village Bal sikandar in Fatehgarh Sahib, Devinder Singh of Jind and Rajinder Singh of Samana have also been arrested after their identification through video clips.

IGP said that anti social elements had tried to disturb the peace of Punjab in the name of religion. He said that no accused would be spared and more than 22 persons have been nominated in six FIRs registered in Patiala.

Deputy Commissioner Sjaksi Sahni also alerted against posting any provocative and fake post on the social media. He said that police would take strict action if any attempt to dusturb peace and harmony was made. She said that if any person has any evidence related to violence, it can be sent on dpropatiala2016@gmail.com.
