Guru Ravidas birthay celebrated with gaiety, religious fervour in Fishers

INDIANAPOLIS: Central Indiana Sikh community celebrated  Guru Ravidas  birthday with gaiety, religious fervour at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar in Fishers. Guru Ravidas was a 14th-century saint and reformer of the Bhakti movement in Northern India. This year marked the 642nd birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas.
Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated on Magh Purnima, which is the full moon day in the Hindu calendar month of Magha.
During the three-day celebrations of  Guru Ravidas birthday, Akhand Path was performed. Langar was served. Katha and kirtan were also important part of the Guru Ravidas  birthday celebration. The devotees were informed about the relevance of the teaching of Guru Ravi Das ji.
The Sikh Sangat of Fishers also announced that Birthday Jayanti of Guru Ravidas would an an annual feature. The Sikh Sangat also strongly suggested launching of the Ravidas Foundation.
Devotees from American community also attended the Guru Ravidas  birthday celebrations.
