CHANDIGARH: A Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) delegation will meet Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria tomorrow to demand an impartial probe into the examination paper leak scams in the State besides action against police officials who resorted to brutality against scheduled castes in Barnala recently.
A decision to this effect was taken following a meeting of the party’s senior leadership which was presided over by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Giving details, senior leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the SAD delegation would bring the repeated paper leaks occurring in the State to the knowledge of the Governor besides disclosing how the Aam Aadmi Party government was trying to stonewall all attempts to hold probes into the paper leaks as well as fix accountability for the same. He said the delegation would also bring the recent paper leaks, including the Pharmacy Officers paper, to the knowledge of the Governor and urge for scrapping of the recruitment process in the interest of justice and fair play.
The SAD leader said the manner in which Dalit women safai sewaks were beaten up with lathis, including being repeatedly hit on their heads, was proof that the AAP government had crossed all limits while dealing with peaceful protests. “We will press for registration of a criminal case against the guilty police officers as well as a case under relevant sections of the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. We will also demand action in all cases in which the AAP government has used undue force to put down democratic protests”.
