Shahkot miscreant arrested for attacking police
PHAGWARA: The Shahkot police have arrested a local miscreant on charges of attacking Shahkot police, ransacking police station building, and damaging vehicles.
The Station House Officer (SHO) Aman Sainni said that the accused has been identified as Gagan Deep Singh, son of Lakhwindar Singh, a resident of Mohalla Kartar Nagar, Shahkot.
SHO said that the accused and his accomplices had pelted stones on police personnel, including the SHO, and injured them seriously, ransacked the police station building and damaged vehicles parked inside and outside on August 8 2021.
SHO said a case under section 307(attempt to murder) 353(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.) 186(voluntarily obstructing any public servant in the discharge of his public functions,) 332(voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty.), 323(voluntarily causing hurt), 427(mischief) 148 and 149(rioting) of the IPC and sections 3\4 of the Damage to Public Property Act was registered against the accused and others and four accused were arrested earlier.
