6.74 lakh farmers to get benifite under Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to provide better health facilities to the farmers of the state, the Punjab Government has launched “Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana” scheme under which cashless health care services would be provided to the eligible farmers.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Agriculture department said that the government has registered 6.74 lakh J-form holder farmers, who sell their produce to the established purchase centres of Punjab Mandi Board. The Punjab Government would pay Rs. 14.82 crore approximately as premium under this scheme for farmers’ health insurance.

Adding further, he said that farmers and their families would be provided health cover up to Rs. 50,000 for their treatment, whereas a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh in case of the death of the head of the family or in the case of any eventuality causing100% disability to that person.
