With the recovery of the last Covid-19 positive patient, the district has again become Corona-free today: Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderbir Kau

NAWANSHAHR:Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (Nawanshahr) has once again emerged victorious in the fight against Corona pandemic. With the recovery of the last Covid-19 positive patient in the district today, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has once again become coronary free.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderbir Kaur in a press statement issued here today congratulated the people of the district and said that the current efforts being made by the Health Department in collaboration with the district administration under 'Mission Fateh' for the prevention of Covid-19 were not in vain as the last covid positive patient of the district reunited with his family members after completing his home isolation period. "This is news of great relief for the district, " she said.
On this achievement, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderbir Kaur said, “The Health Department is proud that we have eradicated the corona virus infection from the district". She lauded all the health care workers including doctors, nurses and para medical staff for making the district "corona free". The Civil Surgeon also congratulated all those who had contributed immensely to the "Mission Fateh" launched by the Punjab Government to control the Corona pandemic.
The Civil Surgeon shared the details of the plan to overcome the Corona pandemic and said that whenever a person is found to be Covid-19 positive, the health department immediately isolates him, which breaks the chain of Corona virus. "In this way we have succeeded in stopping the spread of this virus, " she said.
She added that the health department was keeping a close watch on the health of Covid-19 patients in the district and if any patient was facing any problem then action was being taken as per the protocol prescribed for the treatment of Covid-19.
"In addition, we have vaccinated the majority of the population of the district. We have come very close to the target of administering the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to our 100 per cent eligible population in the district. We hope that this goal will be achieved within the next two months, " said the CS.
Dr. Kaur said that so far 11459 persons have tested positive for corona in the district out of which 11071 patients have recovered while 388 persons have died. The current recovery rate of total recovered cases in the district has increased to 96.61 percent.
Civil Surgeon appealed to the people of the district to be more vigilant during the festive season to maintain the status of Corona-free district. Urging the people to stay away from large crowds during the upcoming festivals in October-November, the Civil Surgeon said that large crowds in the markets during the festive season could potentially lead to the spread of infection again. The next two months are crucial for the current prevention efforts and the precautionary measures to be taken. If we carefully follow the Covid-19 precautions during the upcoming festive season and get as many vaccinations as possible, we will have a great success in preventing a possible third corona outbreak and maintaining the status of the Corona-free district, she aded.
