Village Defense Committees keep a slanting eye on drugs in villages: DC Amritsar

AMRITSAR: The Village Defense Committees formed in the border villages on the instructions of Governor Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit to keep an eye on drugs in the villages and control any untoward incident. and maintain their liaison with the police.

These words were expressed by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ghansham Thori today in a meeting with the Village Defense Committees of Ghonewal, Saidogaji, Misoke, Singoke and Panj Garani villages of Ajnala Constituency. He said that Village Defense Committees have been formed in the villages under the border belt, which are performing very well.

He said that prizes have also been given to the Village Defense Committees which are working better on the basis of good performance.

He asked the Village Defense Committees to keep an eye on drug trafficking from across the border and share the information with the police immediately on the arrival of drones so that drug trafficking can be stopped.

Mr. Thori asked the representatives of the Village Defense Committees to motivate the youth in the villages to stay away from drugs so that the dreaded disease like addiction can be eradicated from the root.

During the meeting BSF officer Mr. B.K. Dwivedi said that patrolling on the border has been increased to prevent drugs and action is being taken against drugs by establishing coordination with the police. He said that BSF The jawans are always present at the border and smuggling through the border has been curbed to a large extent.

In this meeting, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Vivek Modi, SDM. Ajnala Arvinderpal Singh, Block Development and Panchayat Officer Sukhjit Singh, DSP Apart from Rajkumar, Tehsildar Ajnala, officers of various departments were present.
