The arrangement completed by the state government for procurement of wheat - Dhaliwal

AMRITSAR: The state government has made strong arrangements for the arrival of wheat in the state and no hassle would be allowed to the farmers.

Disclosing this here today Cabinet Minister Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal here today he said that in every mandi where any farmer has brought his crop, timely procurement has been started.


He said that all the arrangements for bardana, mandi labor and transport were in place across the state. He said that wheat arrives late in Majha but 5.5 lakh tonnes of wheat has already arrived in the state and 4.3 lakh tonnes have been procured. Even today 2.6 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis. Dhaliwal said that after cleaning of wheat in many mandis procurement was being done .

He said that the government has set the standard for lifting of wheat within 72 hours of procurement. While the state agencies had procured 26, 872 metric tonnes of wheat on April 7, ie 72 hours ago, while 67, 449 metric tonnes of wheat had been procured from the mandis. Similarly arrangements have been made for simultaneous payment to the farmers.


He said that the managing directors of all the procurement agencies have been directed to start the tour of the mandis from Monday so that the farmers would not face any difficulty. Mr. Inderbir Singh Nijhar MLA, Mr. Harpreet Singh Soodan Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Gill DFSC, Mrs. Damanpreet Kaur SDM, Mr. Amandeep Singh Mandi Officer, Mr. Rajwinder Singh Mandi Superintendent and other officials were present on the occasion.
