AMRITSAR: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said that the people of Amritsar have full interest in opening an American consulate here. He said that so far no party representative has made a demand in this regard. This is the first time that former ambassador and BJP candidate from Amritsar, Taranjit Singh Sandhu , has made this demand. Now it is to be seen who advocates the Amritsar case properly.
Dr Jaishankar was addressing a gathering of intellectuals at the Art Gallery here today. He said that India will definitely become developed if people press the right button in the elections.
He said about BJP candidate Taranjit Singh Sandhu that Sandhu is a capable person. He said that Sandhu has served India a lot as an ambassador, now he wants to serve Amritsar. Now it is in your hands to bless them with the opportunity. My experience is that the MP of the constituency should be the one who should be listened to in Delhi.
On the occasion, BJP Kisan Morcha's National Vice President and member of the Governing Body of Indian Agricultural Research Council and three-time MP Suresh Chandel, former Rajya Sabha member Shwet Malik, Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, District President Harwinder Singh Sandhu were also present.
