AMRITSAR: The Deputy Chief Minister Mr. O.P. Soni while expressing deep sorrow over the recent incidents of indecency in Punjab said that these mischievous elements were trying to disturb the peace of Punjab which the people of Punjab will not tolerate.

He said that Punjab government would go to the extent of fixing these incidents and the hidden motive behind it would be exposed.

Mr. Soni said that this is a very unfortunate incident and the depth of this incident will be reached.

He said that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the government would jointly investigate the incident.

The Deputy Chief Minister regretted that the Punjab Vidhan Sabha had in the year 2018 itself sent a proposal to the Union Government to amend Section 295 and add Section 295A but no action has been taken by the Union Government in this regard so far.

He said that under section 295A, if any person disrespects any religion, he is liable to 10 years rigorous punishment. Mr. Soni said that all Punjabis would work together to fight such incidents and would not allow anyone to disturb the peace and tranquility of Punjab.
