Punjab Police's robust mechanism to boon for the pigrims

CHANDIGARH: Robust mechanism evolved by the Punjab Police to ensure Emergency services to people was proving to be a boon for the lakhs of devotees coming to Sultanpur Lodhi for paying obeisance during functions to mark 550th parkash purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

In order to tackle any sort of unseen emergency the 115 vehicles of Police, 35 Fire Brigades, 27 Ambulances and 23 Recovery Vans have been stationed at the strategic locations. As the holy city was divided into various sectors so constant monitoring was being done of all these sectors at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). As many as 24 Police officers have been deployed round the clock to ensure constant monitoring of these sectors for which 1000 cameras have been installed.

Divulging the details, the Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Satinder Singh said that the basic purpose was to ensure quick, effective and responsive emergency services to the devotees, whenever required. He said that as soon as they receive any information regarding the requirement of emergency vehicles, the vehicle from nearest point was pumped into service from the nearest point. Mr Satinder Singh said that this mechanism has been very helpful in smooth and hassle free execution of the event.

The Senior Superintendent of Police said that this has helped the administration to maintain law and order, imparting quality health services, fire safety and regulating the traffic on roads in the holy city efficaciously. He said that every effort was being made to facilitate the pilgrims coming at the holy city to pay obeisance during the commemorative functions. Mr Satinder Singh said that as lakhs of devotees were coming to holy city everyday so this mechanism was helping them to pay obeisance without any problem.
