Punjab pensioners to sit on ‘Hunger Strike’ for 5 days from Sept 2

FEROZEPUR: Punjab Pensioners Association in its monthly meeting held today condemned for not accepting the demands of the pensioners.  Later, they decided to sit on hunger strike for five days from September 2 to 6, to oppose the policies of the government.

Dev Raj Narual, President and Ajit Singh Sodhi, General Secretary said, the demands of the pensioners include – release of DA instalment, implemenataion of 6th Pay Commissioner, medical alloance of Rs.200, immediate passing of medical bills and restoring the old pension scheme.

They said, in case no action is taken by the government, the hunger strike will be followed by massive rally at Jalalabad to be attended by good number of pensioners.

The hunger strike and district level rallies will be held throughout the state to stress upon the government to accept the pensioners’ demands.ests appreciated the students for their creativity.
