Punjab Govt to soon start bus service to Delhi airport: Bhullar

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Transport Minister Mr. Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Wednesday, said that Punjab Government bus service to Delhi International Airport will be resumed soon. He said that after the threadbare discussion between the Chief Ministers of both the Governments, the issue has been taken up today during the Secretary level meeting of the Transport Departments of both the states.

Mr. Bhullar said that during recent meeting with the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, he apprised him about the long pending issue, which had directly connected with the increase in the revenue of the Transport Department.

"I also informed the Chief Minister about the issue of looting of state's passengers by private bus operators in unavailability of public bus service", said the Transport Minister, adding that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann had recently taken up the matter with Delhi Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal.

S. Bhullar said that after this he had asked the Secretary Transport Mr. Vikas Garg to hold a meeting with the concerned officials of Delhi Government, which was held today with the Principal Secretary Transport Mr. Ashish Kundra and officials of the Delhi International Airport. During the meeting various aspects were discussed in the light of court order.

The Transport Minister said that Punjab government buses would be able to provide affordable travel service to the passengers up till Delhi Airport from different cities of the state.

Meanwhile, the Transport Secretary Mr. Vikas Garg said that during the meeting Mr. Ashish Kundra, Principal Secretary, Transport, Government of Delhi assured that this issue would be resolved soon and Punjab Government Bus Service would be able to ply up till Delhi international Airport.

During the meeting, Mr. Vimal Kumar Setia, State Transport Commissioner, Punjab, Mr. O.P. Mishra Special Commissioner, Delhi Mr. Vinod Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Transport, Delhi and officers of Delhi Airport were also present.
