Police use force, water canons on AAP workers going to gherao Punjab CM farm house, Bhagwant Mann arrested

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police today used water canons and used force to stop hundereds of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers marching to gherao farm house of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh at Siswan, near Chandigarh.

The AAP workers were protesting against unprecedented power crisis in the state and blamed the Capt Amarinder Singh and forner SAD governments for the mismangement and promoting the interests of private thermal plants raised during the Akali rule. AAP state president Bhagwant Mann who led the protesters was arrested alongwith several other AAP MLAs and workers.

Bhagwant Mann said that Capt Amarinder Singh and Badal family are hand in glove and they are looting the state through mafias protected by them. He said that on one hand Capt Amarinder Singh has claimed Punjab is a power surplus state and on the hand Punjab is facing 8 to 12 hour long power cuts. Industry is shutdown and people are suffering in the scorching heat.

Bhangwant Mann said that Capt Amarinder Singh was cut off from masses and facing opposition from within his own party. He said that people of Punjab fully understand the nexus between Badals and Capt Amarinder Singh. He said that power mafia, sand mafia and drug mafia were flourishing under the SAD and Congress rule.

Hundereds of AAp workers from across the Punjab flocked at Siswan and marched towards Captain's residence breaking barricades. Large number of police was camping there since morning. SSP Mohali Satinder Singh was himself monitoring the security arrangmenets.
