PHILAUR: Recently elected Phillaur Municipal Council President Mohinder Ram and Vice President Vaibhav Sharma took charge in the presence of MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary here on Friday.
They were unanimously elected as the President and Vice President under the leadership of former Punjab Youth Congress President and local assembly constituency incharge Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on April 30. The Congress party had won 11 seats out of total 15 in the local body elections held in February this year.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Santokh Chaudhary congratulated both Mohinder Ram and Vaibhav Sharma and wished the best on the beginning of their term.
He said that due to the all-round development of the state and the city done by Captain Amarinder Singh government, the people had reposed their faith in Congress party in the civic elections. “The people have high expectations from us, and I hope that both Mohinder Ram and Vaibhav Sharma would work hard to fulfil the promises made to the people, ” he added.
MP Chaudhary further stated that thanks to the efforts of Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Phillaur was getting huge grants for the development of both rural and urban areas, adding that no stone was being left unturned for the welfare of people of Phillaur.
Municipal Councillors Jyoti Bala Saroye, Jaspal Ginda, Shankar Sandhu, Raj Kumar, Paramjit Bharti, Arun Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Raj Kumar Hans and SHO Phillaur Sanjeev Kapoor were among those present on the occasion.
