PATIALA:Govt failed to do a single good for farmers
The Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary and Former Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia said today that ‘performance’ of Amarinder Singh led Congress government has earned top ranking for Punjab in corruption and people are forced to pay bribes to get their work done.
Interacting with media after attending a social function here today, Mr. Majithia said that it is most unfortunate to see that Punjab has been ranked sixth in corruption and Rajasthan another state ruled by Congress has topped the chart of survey done by Corruption Survey of India 2019. He said that as per the statistics of the survey 63 percent people of Punjab have said that they were forced to pay bribe to get their works done in different government departments whereas another 37 percent said that they had pay bribe more than once. He said that results of the survey tells the tale of state of affairs in Punjab.
Lashing out at government, Mr. Majithia said that this government has failed on all fronts and miserably failed to provide relief to the farmers and do a single good for them. He said that most pitiable is plight of Sugarcane growers who are paid less even neighbouring states of Haryana. He said that price of Sugarcane in UP is Rs. 340 per quintal, 310 in Haryana whereas it is Rs. 300 in Punjab. He said that less price is causing a loss of around Rs. 267 crore annually to these sugarcane growers who are suffering Rs. 9 thousand per acre loss per season. He said that Rs 320 crore of arrears is pending towards government sugar mills and Rs 100 crore is pending towards pvt mills.
Former Minister said that this government has deliberately crushed the common man under heavy power tariff. He said that domestic consumers are paying Rs. 8.37 per unit whereas Industrial consumers are forced to shell out Rs. 7.85 per unit which is too much costly as compared to the SAD-BJP regime. He said that this government has increased power tariff by more than 17 times during last three years. He said that it is most shameful that this government has withdrawn 200 units of free powers from SC and BC consumers who are getting electricity bills of lakhs of rupees.
Making mockery of announcements made by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh during Delhi polls, Mr. Majithia said that there are no takers for his lies now as the people have realized that he makes tall and false claims. He said that his claim of 11 lakh jobs means around 84 jobs per village whereas the government has failed to provide a single job to youth of the state. He said that on one hand he is claiming to make 5500 Smart schools whereas reality is that this government has closed 384 schools during last year alone.
