PHAGWARA:Nurmahal areas residents have sought Local Bodies Minister (LBM) Barhm Mohindra’s intervention to complete the building of Nurmahal police station.
In a communication to LBM, Dilbag Singh a social activist and journalist said that the director Local Government had told the Nurmahal Nagar council that its resolution number 40 passed on 11-06-2012 for transferring 6 kanals 18 marlas land to the police department for the construction of the building for Nurmahal police station has been rejected as per a decision of the Supreme Court of India.
Residents said that in another decision taken by the Supreme court of India it said that we give directions to all the state governments in the country that they should prepare schemes for eviction of illegal/unauthorized occupants of Gram sabha/Gram Panchayat………."
Regularizing should only be permitted in exceptional cases e.g. where lease has been granted under some Government notification to landless labourers or members of Scheduled Castes/Schduled Tribes, or where there is already a school dispensary or other public utility on the land.
They said that according to this decision Nurmahal Nagar council's resolution is a fit case for approval.
Residents said that in the year 2005 police station Nurmahal was located in a private building. People of the town took initiative and donated six kanals 18 marlas land belonging to Patti of the town and spent Rs. 25.00 lakh for the construction of the building for police station Nurmahal.
However government authorities took no further action to complete the
building.
The 6 kanals and 14 marlas land stands mutated in the name of common owners.
Residents said that secretary local government should direct to reconsider director’s decision and give his approval to resolution number 40 passed on 11-06-2012 for transferring 6 kanals 18 marlas land to the police department for the construction of the building for Nurmahal police station.
