No direct role of Punjab Govt in deporting oxygen from Pakistan: R.S.Sachdeva

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | May 21, 2021 10:08 PM

BATHINDA: Reacting sharply to the news on a web channel for seeking import of 2 tankers a day of medical oxygen from Lahore (Pakistan), R.S. Sachdeva, MD Hitech Industries Mohali and Mentor, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI clarified that it was exclusively a request made from an oxygen manufacturer to his counterpart of neighbouring country to tide over shortage of medical oxygen in Punjab so as to save precious lives of those affected from Covid-19.

Pointing out further, Sachdeva said that he was extremely pained to learn the said channel has deliberately made an attempt to unnecessarily politicize the issue and cautioned politicking over such an emotive issue should be desisted at this critical juncture.

Divulging further, Sachdeva said that the manufacturers of the medical oxygen had requested the Punjab Government to allow them for importing the medical oxygen from neighbouring country since it is a banned item. “The Punjab Government merely forwarded our request to the Government of India and had no direct role in the entire episode”, revealed Sachdeva adding it would be really viable and practically feasible for them if the Government of India allows them to import oxygen from Pakistan.

Making an appeal to refrain from giving such issues a religious and political tinge in these trying circumstances of pandemic, the MD called for an humanitarian approach to such sensitive issue which is the need of the hour.

Lauding the stupendous efforts of Punjab Government, Sachdeva said that it is exceptionally doing a great job in this difficult phase to arrange medical oxygen and transport its tankers across different states of the country to fetch oxygen for our critically ill patients.
