Hockey Olympian Rajinder Singh pays obeisance at Golden Temple

AMRITSAR: Hockey Olympian Rajinder Singh today arrived to pay obeisance at Golden Temple here. Bibi Jagir Kaur president Shiormani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee honoured with a saropa ( robe of honour) at information office.

On the occasion, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Rajinder Singh has made great strides in the game of hockey. He has also been the Chief Coach of the Indian Hockey Team and has received the Dronacharya Award from the Government of India for his achievements in the game of hockey.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that continuous efforts were being made by the SGPC to engage the youth in sports.
For this purpose the SGPC has set up sports academies at various places. She said that the old players have a lot of experience, so from time to time their services would be sought to motivate the youth towards sports.

She also held discussions with Rajinder Singh to promote the hockey teams of the SGPC at the international level. Rajinder Singh specially thanked Bibi Jagir Kaur for the honor bestowed on her by the SGPC.
