DC and SSP to begin awareness drive against drugs from Khatkar Kalan on April 25

NAWANSHAHR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Sharma said that the civil and police administration would launch a massive awareness drive against drug menace from Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on April 25.
Presiding over a meeting at his office, Deputy Commissioner accompanied by SSP, said that under this sensitization drive, civil and police administration would hold face to face interactions with the people of the villages and would listen to their valuable suggestions or feedback to wipe out the menace from the society. He added that in such public interactions, the senior officers would motivate people to work shoulder to shoulder with government to eliminate the social evil from their areas and making drugs free society.
He said that public meetings and interactions would be held regularly in the villages under this campaign for making it social movement to save our youth from scourge of drugs.
NPS Randhawa said that the suggestions and information by the people at the grassroots would help to make robust mechanism against menace and would lead to make the district free from the drug menace.
Meanwhile, SSP Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that the police have already been taking strict action against the persons involved in drug smuggling and the menace would be nipped in bud.
He said that the administration needs wholeheartedly support of the people in this noble cause to save the future generations from falling prey to the drugs by creating awareness, strengthening the social structure and strong action against smugglers to curb the drugs.
