AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee *SGPC) has expressed sorrow over the burning Five Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Ajitsar Sahib in Jagraon due to short circuit of electricity.
Advocate Dhami said that many times the sangat has been appealed not to keep the electrical appliances running in the absence of the attendants but sadly the managing committees do not pay attention to this.
He said that the latest incident was also due to a short circuit in the wiring of the electric fan.
He said that it was the responsibility of the Gurdwara Committees to be serious in preventing such accidents and to inspect the electrical wiring and equipment inside the Gurdwaras from time to time.
He said that it should be made mandatory for a Sevadar to stay inside Gurdwara Sahib at all times so that such unfortunate incidents could be prevented.
He also appealed to the sangat to keep alerting the committees of Gurdwaras from time to time.
