ADC Anupam Kler Slapped Food Safety Offenders with a fine of Rs 4.76 Lakh

NAWANSHAHR: Taking stern view of the violations under Food Safety and Standards Act, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Adjudicating Officer (Food safety) Mrs. Anupam Kler has slapped a fine of Rs. 4.76 lakh on 20 offenders.

Divulging the details Assistant Commissioner (Food) Manoj Khosla said that a Delhi based  tobacco (banned)  producer firm M/s Trimurti Fragrances would have to pay a fine of  Rs 1 lakh for manufacturing banned S S-1 tobacco. Similarly the local seller Parmod Kumar of Jadla has also been slapped with a fine of Rs 60,000 for sale of banned S S-1 tobacco and   tobacco based M-1 Chewing Gum. Another Desi Ghee manufacturing unit, Rajat Enterprises Hisar has been fined with a sum or Rs 50,000 for sale of sub standard Prince Light brand Desi Ghee.

Besides, three firms have been penalized with a fine of Rs 25,000 each. These firms include Satranga Pickle Products Rajpura for mis-branded and sub standard vinegar, Kapur Industries Fatehgarh sahib for mis-branded and mis-leading Mustard Oil and Ashok Kumar of Balachaur for supplying sub standard wheat flour. One firm has been slapped with a fine of Rs 20000 while three each with a fine of Rs 15000 and and three others with a fine of Rs 10000 each.

Assistant Commissioner (Food) Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Manoj Khosla further added that teams comprised of food safety officers Smt. Rakhi Vinayak and Sangeeta Sehdev had taken samples of various food articles from various outlets of the district. Under Food Safety and Standards Act, the items which were declared Sub-standard/mis-branded/Banned and mis-leading after being analysed at state Food Lab, all the cases were filed in the court of ADC cum Adjudicating officer Mrs. Anupam Kler.

Mr. Khosla said that under mission Tandrust Punjab a drive to curb adulteration in food stuff is already going on under the directions of Sh. Kahan Singh Pannu Commissioner, Food & Drug Administration, Punjab.
