Bangladesh Delegation highly impressed to visit Vet Varsity

CHANDIGARH: A delegation comprising eight members from Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Bangladesh visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) under the leadership of Mr. Kazi Wasiuddin, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Govt. of Bangladesh. The visit was focused to study farm success achieved through private and public sector support.

Different officials of Bangladesh as Mr Khan Shahidul Huque, Mr Ashim Kumar Bala, Mr Md. Moktar Hossain, Mr Mirza Mohammad Ali Reza, Mr H.M.Moniruzzaman, Mr Sardar Amanullah, Mr Bipine Chandra Biswas and Dr. R. C. Upadhyay, Consultant were in the delegation. They were experts in policy, research and development of livestock sector.

The delegation visited University Livestock Farms, College of Fisheries, Bio-gas Plant at GADVASU and Haibowal Dairy Complex. They interacted with the officers/scientists of the university and discussed on different issues related to livestock farming to explore the possibility of partnership development for achieving goals of sustainable livestock and clean air production. While visiting bio gas plant of Vet Varsity they were highly impress by seeing the plant which is saving electricity to the tune of rupees 500-1000 daily by providing power to dairy farm complex of university.

Team was highly impressed and satisfied to see the progress in developed technologies of animal production and advancement of livestock sector. GADVASU was especially selected in their visit as premier Veterinary institute in India. Different technologies in livestock farming and various facilities to the farmers were showcased to them. An interactive session with progressive farmers was also arranged. While discussing with Dr. A. S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Nanda extended and offered his support for MoU in the field of livestock to provide clinical training to the interns and staff of the Bangladesh institutes. Semen, livestock can be provided for the improvement of their native breeds. Dr. Nanda said that GADVASU is ready to help farmers of Bangladesh to improve productivity of the animals by providing latest technology in the field of bypass fat, bypass protein, tube silage, mineral mixture, animal health and other production related to techniques.

Dr. Sarnarinder Singh Randhawa, Director of Research, Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean, PGS, Dr. Harpal Singh Sandhu, Dean, College of Vety. Science, Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, Director of Extension Education, Dr. Asha Dhawan, Dean, College of Fisheries and Dr. A. K. Puniya, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology also interacted with the delegation.
