DC inaugurates district level games to commemorate 550th parkash Punjab

JALANDHAR:  Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh envisioned the district level games as a catalyst for ensuring the holistic development of youths.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating district level games being organized to commemorate 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji under the aegis of Mission Tandarust Punjab at Hans Raj Stadium today, he said that Punjab government was committed to giving a major boost the sports and games in the state as a tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

He said that as a part of celebrations of 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Sports department was organizing these games which would give a major boost to sporting activity in the state.

He exhorted the budding players to play the games would full sportsman spirit to build a healthy Punjab and sustainably achieve human excellence. He said that this would further an important role in carving out a progressive and harmonious Punjab.

He said that besides weaning away the youth of state from menace of drugs such activities would play an instrumental role in developing qualities like harmony, brotherhood, and fraternity amongst the youth.

Mr. Singh said that the state government is giving special attention to the grooming of the youths through these games so that they could excel in sports competitions at the national and international levels and can make their state and families proud.

He said that the matches of various games including Judo, Wrestling, Boxing, Kabaddi, Weightlifting, Handball, Football, Badminton, Fencing, Hockey, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Roller Skating, Swimming, Kho-Kho, and others will be played under these games and adequate arrangements have  been made to ensure the safety and security of the players besides providing them with medical treatment during the events.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included District Sports Officer Balwinder Singh, coaches  Harjinder Pal Singh, Anup Kumar, and others were present.
