Protests in Punjab against SC order to demolish Guru Ravi Dass temple

PHAGWARA: Thousands of the activists belonging to  Ravidasiya society came to roads in several parts of the Doaba and protested against the Supreme Court's decision to demolish Shri Guru Ravidas Temple in Tuglkabad Delhi.
Supreme Court has ordered to break down the age-old Ravidass temple in Delhi and the process for it has also been started. Irate protesters blocked vehicular road traffic on National High Ways on Phagwara—Jalandhar, Phagwara—Hoshiarpur, Phagwara—Goraya—Phillaur-Ludhiana, Phagwara—Behram-Banga-Nawanshahr, Phagwara—Nakodar, Noormahal-Nakodar roads shouting slogans against the central government. In Phagwara hundreds of vehicles were seen standard in long queues causing much more inconvenience for commuters.  SP Phagwara Mandeep Singh, SP investigations Manpreet Dhillon and DSP Phagwara Manjeet Singh along with SDM Phagwara Jai Inder Singh made hard efforts to lift the blockade and pacify the protesters. Later the protesters submitted a memorandum to SDM Jai Inder Singh before lifting the blockade after five hours.
