5th mega job fair culminats with jobs for 116438, Capt Amarinder congratulates beneficieries

CHANDIGARH: The 5th Mega Job Fair under the flagship Ghar Ghar Rozgar scheme of the Captain Amarinder Singh led government concluded on Monday with jobs secured for a whopping 116, 438 youth. Another 40, 688 youth were identified for self-employment projects to be facilitated by the government, while 9016 will get Skill Training to make them employable.

The Chief Minister has complimented the youth, while lauding the Employment Generation Department for the successful Fair, which commenced on September 9.

Held across more than 100 locations around the state, the Job Fair saw 176, 967 applicants interviewed for an array of job opportunities in the private sector with packages ranging upto Rs. 10 Lakh per annum, according to an official spokesperson.

Of the selected candidates, 13369 candidates are from Mohali, followed by 10445 from Jalandhar, while another 9511 have been chosen from Patiala, 7450 from Ludhiana, and 6951 from Sangrur. As many as 4786 candidates have been selected from Hoshiarpur, followed by 4727 from Amritsar, with Bathinda and Mansa at 4709 and 4706 respectively.

In the self-employment segment, 4492 were identified from Patiala, 3808 from Mohali district and 3596 from Hoshiarpur. Those selected for skill training included 956 from Jalandhar, 854 from Kapurthala, 817 from Sangrur, with 606 from Roopnagar and 529 from Mohali, followed by Gurdaspur (420), and Amaritsar (318).

The Punjab Government had launched “Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission” to enable every unemployed youth with employment (self or wage) as per his/her eligibility. The programme also involves a dedicated component to skill the unskilled, in order to make them employable.
