1,945 students conferred degrees during 13th Annual Convocation of CGC Landran

MOHAL1: 1900-plus non-engineering graduates of 2017 and 2018 batches were awarded degrees at the 13th Annual Convocation of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran. These comprised students from MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, B.Com, B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmaceutics, M. Pharmacology, M.Pharmachemistry, B.Sc Biotech, M.Sc Biotech, B.Sc. HMCT, B.Sc. ATHM, BHMCT, and B.Sc. HHA. Students who bagged merit positions were also honoured with medals during the event. These comprised 47 gold medallists, 54 silver medallists and 55 bronze medallists.

Most of the students who received their degrees have been placed with top notch MNCs with many having bagged multiple offers. CGC hosted around 492 MNCs for campus placements this year including Deloitte Consultancy, Axis Bank, Tommy Hilfiger, Aditya Birla Retail Ltd, Oberois, Taj, ITC Hotels, Le Meridien, Vistara, Indigo Airlines, GSK, CIPLA, Novartis, Dr. Lal Path labs, Abbott Laboratories, Godrej Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd, Emami Ltd, Bajaj Electricals Ltd, ITC Ltd. among others. Kunal Sharma, MBA, for instance, has been placed with Byju’s, Bhawna Aggarwal (also a gold medallist), MBA, has been hired by Deloitte Consulting, Navdeep Singh, BCA was hired by Wipro Technologies while Tanushka got placed with Tech Mahindra.
The graduated students from this batch have also showcased their all-rounder spirit by winning top spots in various sports and cultural activities organised at University, state and national levels. They also gave a stellar performance in state and national level sports events like Swimming, Chess, Badminton, Basketball, Weightlifting, Athletics, Handball, Volleyball and Power lifting; winning 36 gold, 27 silver and 19 bronze medals.

Mr. Sharath Kumar R N, MD, CEO India, Tower Research Capital India Pvt Ltd. the Chief Guest of the ceremony presented the degrees to the students of 2017-2018 batches. Congratulating the students on their milestone he called it the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. He urged them to be open to learning and imbibing from life’s experiences and follow their passion to achieve the best of their potential. Mr. Amit Pandey, Chief Operating Officer, Exicom Tele Systems Ltd., the Guest of Honour on the occasion also inspired the students with his words of wisdom asking them to keep rising in life without compromising on their inner happiness.
 
Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran congratulated the students and wished them the very best for their careers.
