NAWANSHAHR: Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr Gurdeep Singh Kapoor, the Health Department here has launched a war to defeat the corona virus and achieve "Mission Fateh". Amidst the challenging conditions of Corona epidemic, about 8303 Covid-19 positive persons have successfully recovered in homen isolation in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district and at present about 785 active patients remain under home isolation.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurdeep Singh Kapoor highlighted the current situation of Covid-19 in the district in a Facebook live program today and said that the war against Corona would be won with ' cleanliness, medicine and strictness' in the district. He also said that there was no need to be afraid of being Corona positive, even patients with mild symptoms and no symptoms need not to be admitted to hospitals. Such patients should only choose to remain in domestic isolation at the time of testing.
Civil Surgeon Kapoor further said that Rapid Response Teams have been constituted in every block of all the towns and villages of the district for the care of positive patients under domestic isolation, which are closely monitoring the health of corona positive patients in the district. If the patient's condition worsens and severe symptoms appear, they are immediately transferred to health centers.
He said that the 104 helpline has been specially set up which is working 24 hours a day to answer the queries of the people for any help regarding the symptoms, testing or admission of Covid-19.
Dr. Gurdeep Singh Kapoor said that Corona Fateh Kits were being distributed at home for better care of patients with domestic isolation which include pulse oximeter, thermometer, steamer and other essential medicines. He said that with the help of Mission Fateh Kits, corona patients are recovering faster.

Explaining the risks for patients with co-morbidities, Dr. Gitanjali Singh said that patients with hypertension and diabetes are advised to strictly follow the safety rules regarding Covid-19 as they are more prone to be infected with Corona virus. The risk is higher than the rest in their cases, she said.
Dr. Singh said that it was a matter of grave concern that the mortality rate (case fatality rate) was higher in rural areas than in urban areas. At present the death rate in the district is over 2%, she disclosed.
Senior Medical Officer Dr. Gitanjali Singh said that there is strong evidence that social interaction is an important means of spreading the virus. That is why it is so important for all of us to exercise restraint when leaving home for non-essential activities. Whether in the countryside or in the cities, during the Covid period, our movement out of our homes should only be for urgent tasks.
