Anti Larva teams detect 33 cases of dengue larva, seven challaned

JALANDHAR: In its drive under ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ against the vector-borne diseases, the anti-larva cell of the health department on Friday detected 33 dengue larva cases in 11 localities in the city.

Separate teams of anti-larva cell led by  . Kulwinder Singh, Mr. Amit Kumar,   Vinod Kumar,   Jaswinder Singh,   Amit Kumar, . Shakti Gopal,   Sher Singh,   Rajwinder Singh,   Kamaldeep, Mr Gurwinder Singh, and  Harpreet Pal carried out checking in Basti Bawa Khel, Barring, Guru Ram Dass Nagar, Guru Gobind Singh Avenue, Nurpur Colony, Milk Plant Area, New Baradari, Katehra Mohalla, Gautam Nagar, Avtar Nagar,   Bus stand and Basti Guzan.

During the checking, the teams visited 534 houses, checked 712 waste containers, 197 desert coolers, seven tyres and conducted spray in 236 rooms.

The teams also issued seven challans including three in Guru Ram Dass Nagar, two in New Baradari and Avtar Nagar respectively.

The teams' members told the residents that the desert coolers,
containers could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria, and others. They said that the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for producing the larva of mosquitoes.

They said that the special inspection was a part of the drive under ‘Tandarust Punjab’s mission to ensure that vector-borne diseases were checked well in advance.
