Santokh Singh Chaudhary wins Jalandhar seat by 19491 votes

JALANDHAR: Congress candidate  Santokh Singh Chaudhary today registered an impressive win in elections for Jalandhar Parliamentary Constituency by defeating his nearest rival Dr. Charanjit Singh Atwal of Shiromani Akali Dal by a margin of 19, 491 votes.

Divulging the details the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer  Varinder Kumar Sharma said that during the Lok Sabha polls 385712 Votes were polled to Chaudhary Santokh whereas candidate of Shiromani Akali Dal Dr. Atwal managed to get 366221 Votes. Likewise, he said that 25467 votes were polled to the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party Justice (Retd.) Jora Singh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Balwinder Singh got 204783 votes, 1340 votes to  Urmila of Ambedkar National Congress, 2470 votes to Shiv Sena Candidate Subash Goria, 1191 votes to People’s Party of India (Democratic) candidate  Hari Mitter, 500 votes to Gurupal Singh of Bharat Prabhat Party, 1430 votes to Jagan Nath Bajwa of Hum Bhartiya Party, 2463 votes to Tara Singh Gill of Bahujan Samaj Party (Ambedkar), 684 votes to Republican Party of India candidate Parkash Chand Jassal, 845 votes to National Justice Party candidate  Baljinder Sodhi, 921 votes to Bahujan Mukti Party candidate Ramesh Lal Kala, 1088 votes to Opkar Singh Bakshi, 1591 votes to Amrish Kumar, 3154 votes to Sukhdev Singh, 4100 votes to  Kashmir Singh Ghugshor, 1858 votes to Valmikacharya Nitiya Anand and 856 to Neetu Shutteran Wala. Similarly, 12324 voters opted for NOTA in the polls.

Meanwhile, the winning candidate, flanked by his son Vikram Singh Chaudhary and other leaders received the certificate of win from Returning Officer Mr. Varinder Sharma, who was also accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioners Kulwant Singh and  Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police PBS Parmar and other officers.
