Arrangements have been made for transporting the elderly and persons with special needs to the booth

AMRITSAR: District Electoral Officer S. Gurpreet Singh Khaira's wish that every voter should exercise his voting right, details of all the voters above 80 years of age and special needs voters in the district have been collected and taken to the polling booth to put them into practice. . The BLOs deployed for every 150 households have reached door to door and sought the consent of the voters on the basis of which vehicles and wheelchairs have been provided by the district administration.

Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khaira informed that there are 14918 special needs voters and 49249 voters above 80 years of age in the district.
At the same time we have 30216 voters in the age group of 18 to 19 years who are going to vote for the first time. He said that we have launched the project 'Sanman' under which the responsibility of transporting the needy voters from their homes or neighborhoods to the booths has been given to the young voters through BLO.
He said that with this both enthusiasm and experience will use their voting officer together.

"Apart from this, the voters who are out of the reach of so many youngsters have been approached by our BLOs and asked to make arrangements to reach the booths, " he said. Under which vehicles are being provided to the needy people in need. Assistants have also been deployed for this purpose. In addition wheelchairs are being provided at each booth so that the person with special needs does not face any problem in getting to the booth. He said that out of the appointed assistants any employee or volunteer who managed to get the votes of all the needy voters in their list would be honored by the district administration.
