Malerkotla police solved theft in Naina Devi temple within 24 hours, two thieves arrested

MALERKTLA: The Malerkotla police has solved the theft case of famous Shri Naina Devi temple here within 24 hours and arrested two thieves along with stolen ornaments and other treasure.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Mohammed Sadique alias Babu and Mohammed. They have confessed the involvement in theft, said Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh SSP Malerkotla. SSP said that the police used advanced forensic techniques to identified the thieves. He said that police team under command of DSP Gurdev Singh and SHO Inspector Sahib Singh had worked hard to trace the case.

He said thay police raided the hideout of thieves and recovered the stolen property which included two gold eyes of Mata Naina Devi, Gold crown of Mata Naina Devi and Vishnu idols and silver cover of shivling. Police has recovered 20, 000 cash out of total 50000 stolen from the temple. The thieves used iron rods to break the locks and make forcible entry, SSP said.

Khakh said that a case under sections 457, 380 and 295 of IPC was registered in city-1 police station. Besides it, the two suspectswere earlier charged under section 453 and 380 of IPC in city-1 PS FIR no.183.. SSP said the accused would be produced in court tomorrow for further investigation.
