JALANDHAR: ;Tightening noose on the culprits Naunihal Singh, Inspector General of Police, Jalandhar Range, Jalandhar and Navjot Singh Mahal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural) under the supervision of Sarabjit Singh, SP/Investigation, Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, SP/Headquarters, Ankur Gupta, ASP/Sub-Division Adampur Davinder Kumar Attri, DSP/Sub-Division Phillaur a special drive launched against narcotic smugglers and anti social elements.
It is pertinent to mention that due to strenuous efforts of Sub Inspector Jarnail Singh, SHO, Police Station Adampur, SI Ajit Singh, SI Surjit Singh, ASI Gurdev Singh alongwith police party nabbed four narcotic smugglers and recovered 3 KG Opium, 1 Pistol 32 Bore, 2 live cartridges and a Sunny Car bearing registration No. PB-08-CT-9800.
Interacting with the mediapersons Navjot Singh Mahal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural) said that on October 2 at about 11:00 AM, ASI Gurdev Singh alongwith police party conducted nakabandi at Canal Bridge Mehmadpur and were checking the vehicles. During nakabandi one Sunny Car bearing registration No. PB-08-CT-9800 was seen coming from Adampur side which was intercepted on suspicion its 4 occupants of the Car were apprehended. SI Ajit Singh, SI Surjit Singh alongwith police party also reached on the spot and asked the apprehend persons about their identity. The driver of the car revealed his identity as Gurpreet Singh s/o Bhajan Singh r/o Bhanlaggan, PS Sadar Kapurthala, whereas the person sitting on the adjoining seat of the driver revealed his identity as Kanwalpreet Singh s/o Hardial Singh r/o Dhudiawal, PS Sultanpur Lodhi, district Kapurthala. The two persons sitting on the rear seat revealed their identity as Jaswant Singh s/o Ved Parkash r/o Chanan Ke, PS Mehta, district Amritsar and Amarjot Singh s/o Anoop Singh r/o Village Dudhiawal, PS Sultanpur Lodhi, district Kapurthala. Sh. Ankur Gupta, IPS, ASP/Sub-Division Adampur was intimated and the officer alongwith his gunmen reached at the spot at 12:15 PM1and in his presence their search was conducted upon which 01 Pistol (7.65) 32 Bore alongwith 02 live cartridges 32 Bore was recovered from Kanwalpreet Singh, whereas no objectionable item was received from Gurpreet Singh, Jaswant Singh & Amarjot Singh. The search of the rear door of the Sunny car led to recovery of 03 polythene packets each containing 01 KG Opium. Thus upon search, a total of 03 Kg of Opium and 01 Pistol 32 Bore alongwith 02 live cartridges were recovered from them. In this regard case FIR No. 170 dated 02-10-2019 u/s 18 NDPS Act, 25 Arms Act was registered against them in PS Adampur, district Jalandhar (Rural). A deep probe from them is being conducted and more revelations are yet to be expected.
