Heroin worth Rs. 5 crore seized by Mohali police

MOHALI:  As part of the crackdown on the drug peddlers, the District Police has nabbed a total of 5 drug peddlers in 2 different cases and seized heroin having pricing of Rs. 5 crore in the international market.

In the first case, according to the information divulged by the SP (I) Harmandeep Singh Haans and DSP (I) Bikramjit Singh Brar, the Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Incharge, CIA Staff, Mohali had on a tip off registered a case under sections 21/22-61-85 of the NDPS Act at Phase-1, Mohali and arrested Sachin Kumar, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana and a woman named Jasbir Kaur alias Simty, also a resident of Sirsa in Haryana from Industrial Area, Phase-7, Mohali.

SSP Kuldip Singh Chahal informed that the police also seized 1 Kg heroin from them. On their interrogation, another person Raghbir Singh, a resident of Kharar was arrested on 5-6-20 and recovered 45 Gram heroin from him. The seized heroin of 1 Kg and 45 Gram quantity has a price of Rs. 5 crore in the international market.

In another case, the district police acting on a tip off registered a case on 5-6-20 under sections 15-61-85 NDPS Act and nabbed a TATA truck bearing no. PB65-AH-0731 from village Harlalpur Jandpur Road resulting in the arrest of Balbir Singh, a resident of Village Harlalpur and Gurnam Singh Gogi, a resident of Village Jandpur, Tehsil Kharar. Poppy Husk totaling 31 Kg was recovered from them. The further investigation into both the cases is on.
