Drug smuggler awarded 3 years imprisonment 25 k fine

KAITHAL: The court of Kaithal Additional District and Sessions Judge Sangeeta Rai Sachdeva has sentenced a person guilty of selling hashish to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25, 000.

In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional punishment of 3 months. In this regard, a case was registered in Sadar police station on 16 March 2020 under the NDPS Act. Deputy District Attorney Jai Bhagwan Goyal argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.

Quoting the case file, Goyal said that on March 16, 2020, while patrolling, the police party reached in front of the veterinary hospital in village Khurana. There a person informed that Rajendra Singh alias kalu , resident of khurana village, is into the business of selling hashish. On this, when the police party reached near Rajendra Singh's house as per the route given by the person, a person was seen standing inside the house who was hiding something in his hand. The police caught hold of him who revealed his name as Rajendra Singh alias Kalu , resident of Khurana. When he was searched in front of the duty magistrate, 381 grams of hashish was recovered from his possession. The court listened to both the sides carefully and on the basis of witnesses and evidence, found Rajendra guilty of running the business of selling hashish. ADJ Sangeeta Rai Sachdev sentenced him to three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25, 000.
