PHAGWARA: Two unidentified armed motorcyclist youths shot dead a youth named Jarnail Singh @ Nanu (32) before his house in Village Tadaundra(Mehatpur) near Nakodar on Monday late Evening.
Senior Superintendent of the Police(Rural) Navjot Singh Mahal who rushed to the spot told this correspondent tonight that the accused came to the house of the deceased, push call bell and opened fire when the deceased opened the door. He died on the spot. However Smt Beero when heard the loud voice of firing came to see, but the accused fired upon her also. However she escaped unhurt.
SHO Mehatpur Lakhbir Singh and SHO Nakodar Sikandar Singh who also rushed to investigate told that the deceased was also a gangster and was facing eight criminal cases registered against him. SHOs told that the deceased had solemnized love marriage only two months back. However the Police has registered a case under section 302/307 IPC and investigating the case. The body of the deceased youth has been sent to Civil Hospital in Nakodar for autopsy. Finger Prints Experts and Dog quads were also summoned. Police had recovered two empty cartridges from the spot.
