MEXICO CITY: Twenty-three people have been killed and 13 others injured in a suspected fire bomb attack at a bar in Mexico, the media reported on Wednesday.

The deadly fire took place on Tuesday night in a bar in Coatzacoalcos, a coastal city in the eastern state of Veracruz, the state Attorney general's office said in a statement.

According to the statement, the state Attorney general office was investigating a suspected "malicious attack" at Caballo Blanco table dancing bar.

Eight of those killed were women and 15 were men, reported El Universal. The Mexico City-based newspaper said Molotov cocktails were believed to have been thrown at the building.
