7- day NSS special camp in Dhana village of Chandigarh starts

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh NSS Cell organized 7-day NSS Special Camp from February 13-19 in Dhanas village. The camp was inagurated at GMSSS-15C. The camp is running under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Er. Binesh Bhatia and Unit Coordinator Ms. Ritika Verma, National NSS Awardee,

The Chief Advisor to NSS Open Unit Prof. Bikram Rana (Former OSD-Education cum State Laision Officer) congratulated Programme Officer and NSS volunteers for adopting the cause of selfless community service with National Service Scheme.

The inaugural function was attended by the guests of honor Mr Salil Chopra (President Rotary Club), Mr Salil Bali (AG Assistant Governor, Rotary Club), Mr JS Bawa (Secretary, Rotary Club), Mr Sanjay Malik (Sawayam Academy Chandigarh Police), Smt. Savita Marwaha, Mr Bhupinder Marwaha (Expert on Solar Energy and Environment Conservation) and Smt. Manpreet Kaur (Programme Officer, GMSSS 15).

The NSS Open Unit is a Self Finance Unit with no grants, which is a dream project of Prof. Rana to take forward the cause of NSS moto: "Not ME, But You" under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Guests appreciated the volunteers efforts for working in selfless community services in adopted village Dhanas.

The NSS Open Unit is working in Dhanas and adopted school GMSSS-15C where volunteers will aware community on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with Door to door campaign, Nukkad Natak, Wall Painting etc. Impact of Sustainable Development for Solar Energy, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, POCSO Act awareness, Menstrual Hygiene Management, Health Camp etc.

The NSS Camp includes in its activities such as self defense training, Basics of Parade, mark activities for freedom fighters under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, promoting Fit India Campaign for decipline and integrity. The volunteers will be getting exposure in skill development and capacity building programmes followed by Blood donation camp at PGI on February 18, unit officials added.
