PU All Set for issuing Online Degrees Through National Academic Depository

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University Examination branches are all set to upload the Examination data on National Academic Depository(NAD) for awarding Online Degrees and DMCs etc from the current academic session, informed Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination. He added that in this regard reasonable measures have already been taken including legal agreement and registration of candidates from affiliated colleges and teaching departments.  

In the present situation due to Covid 19 pandemic, it is felt many candidates may not be able to get Examination related testimonials due to lockdown of administrative  offices at the moment. He also shared that it is the need of hour to initiate online mode of issuance of Degree/DMCs to all our eligible PG students as well as Ph D scholars for which NAD registration is must.

Till date, data of 35000 students has been uploaded on National Academic Depository (NAD) for Post Graduates and Ph D students of the academic sessions 2018-19 and 2019-20. More than 800 research scholars have enrolled and due to Covid19 pandemic about 110 scholars have already downloaded their PhD degrees from NAD. Out of the data of 35000 students, approximately the data of 15000 students has been verified as authentic academic data which can also be downloaded by the students of PU affiliated colleges and teaching departments.  

CoE shared that due to present pandemic situation and for further transparency, efficiency , the Online degrees and DMCs issuance by Panjab University Examination system will not only bring a big relief to the students but also is  another examination reform endeavour for the credibility of examination system.

National Academic Depository (NAD) is a 24X7 online store house of all academic awards viz.certificates, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets etc. duly digitised and lodged by academic institutions / boards / eligibility assessment bodies. NAD not only ensures easy access to and retrieval of an academic award but also validates and guarantees its authenticity and safe storage.

The NAD provides students convenient access to their degrees without the risk of loosing, spoiling or damaging them. PU has signed an agreement with National Securities Depository Limited(NSDL), a central security depository based in Mumbai, for uploading the degree on the NAD, an online storehouse of academic awards. The students  have to register themselves on NAD where all their documents will be made available for easy retrieval in the future. The degrees will be available permanently on the portal giving round-the-clock access to them for any academic or professional purpose
