Alumni Association of Dairy Technocrats formed at Vet Varsity

LUDHIANA: The pass out students of College of Dairy Science & Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana formed an Alumni Association.

Er. Gursharn Singh, informed that the college was established in year 2008, and the first batch graduated in 2012, Thereafter seven batches of B.Tech (Dairy Technology) have passed out of the college. There was a common desire from the alumni to form the association. In this regard a get-together of first three pass out batches was arranged. The faculty of the College was also invited for this rendezvous. Former dean of the college Dr. SPS Sangha graced the occasion along with founder faculty members of the college. The Alumni Association was formed unanimously by all the present members. An advisory committee of the Alumni Association was also formed.

Venus Bansal, Assistant Professor informed that 10 members were included in the constituted committee. Gursharn Singh, Assistant Professor, GADVASU was nominated as President whereas Akashdeep Singh, Research Scholar, Massey University, New Zealand as Vice President. Venus Bansal, Assistant Professor, GADVASU, Secretary, Nirvair Singh, Dairy Development Officer, Dairy Development Department, Punjab as Joint Secretary. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Manager, Milkfed Punjab as treasurer. Five other executive members were also nominated.

The faculty of the College congratulated the executive committee and told that it was a historic moment of the College. Members of Alumni decided that they will work for the upliftment of dairy sector of Punjab. The current issues of dairy sector like challenge to produce quality milk, adulteration, lack of technology and mechanization will be addressed by these technocrats through their respective establishment. Value addition of products and promotion of indigenous products will be the priority areas to work for this new body in the future.
