CHANDIGARH: In a major relief to flood affected people, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday announced to give Rs 7200 per acre for de-silting of sand from fields of the farmers under ‘Jisda Khet, Ohdi Ret’ scheme in the flood affected districts.

CHANDIGARH: In a humanitarian move, the Punjab government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has decided to provide two lakh quintal wheat seeds free of cost to the farmers who have lost their crop in around five lakh acres of land during the recent floods.

AMRITSAR: Today, to restore services at the Sub-Tehsil centre and the Primary Health Centre (Civil Hospital) in the historic town of Ramdas, which was badly hit by floods and buried under silt and debris, constituency MLA and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal personally joined in removing silt and cleaning, and also carried out mosquito fogging in the town.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab's Finance Minister, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, on Friday said today that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government is actively working to address the long-standing constitutional demands and issues of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Backward Classes (BCs) employees and communities. He gave this assurance during a productive meeting with the Joint Action Committee, which represents 27 SCs and BCs employees and social organizations from across Punjab.

The Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development has identified 479 elderly persons from flood-affected areas. PHAGWARA: In a bid to maintain law and order, the Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on the public display of weapons within the district of Kapurthala. The directive was issued by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, under the powers granted by Section 163 of the Punjab Civil Services Rules, 2023.

CHANDIGARH:Punjab Government has withdrawn its controversial land pooling policy following state wide protests by farmers and political parties. The policy was also challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court where government failed to satisfy the judicial quaries about the policy. 

PHAGWARA: everal service providers and vendors remain unpaid for goods and services supplied during Punjab’s panchayat elections held on October 15 last year leading to mounting frustration and financial strain among those involved. According to sources, the local administration had hired sound systems, vehicles, videography services, tents, and other equipment for election preparations and rehearsals. While bills were forwarded to the administration, only partial payments have reportedly been made to a few individuals, leaving many without any reimbursement despite repeated visits to government offices.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Dr. Baljit Kaur, today announced that, for the first time in Punjab, two modern hostels will be constructed for students belonging to Backward Classes. The first instalment of ₹1.12 crore has been approved for these hostels, which will soon be transferred to the accounts of Punjabi University, Patiala, enabling construction to commence immediately. These hostels — one for boys and one for girls — will have a capacity of 100 students each and will be built at a total cost of ₹6.99 crore.

CHANDIGARH:Principal Secretary Health Mr. Alok Shekhar here today stated that an upsurge in dengue cases has been reported in Punjab in the current year. He said 1724 confirmed cases from across state have already been reported till day. Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SAS Nagar, Bathinda, and Pathankot are among the major districts attributing dengue cases. He said that to prevent and manage dengue outbreaks, the Government of Punjab has increased the number of testing labs to 39. He added that testing and treatment of dengue is free of cost in all Government hospitals.

CHANDIGARH:Punjab school education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Friday, said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has decided to convert the subjects of the master cadre posts reserved for visually impaired category candidates for their convenience. The cabinet minister said that the education department would now offer the same quota in the posts of Arts stream subjects in lieu of posts remaining vacant in the science and commerce stream subjects and physical education subject as well due to non-availability of suitable candidates.
