PPCC lodges protest with Haryana CM for blocking farmers’ march to Delhi

CHANDIGARH:Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee has lodged a strong protest with Haryana Chief Minister for blocking passage to a farmers’ rally that was organised by the Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) on Sunday, September 20.

In a letter given to CM Manohar Lal Khattar today, PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar said that PYC had announced the protest for September 20 against the anti-farmer laws brought by the central government. Under this, a tractor rally of protesters started from Punjab, the same was to reach Delhi passing through Haryana to raise its voice. But it was a matter of great regret and sadness that the Haryana Government didn’t allow the Youth Congress workers to go to the capital of the country by stopping the same at the Ambala border in a very undemocratic manner. The move was not in line with the fair administrative working, so it was painful. Haryana and Punjab have always acted like brothers and maintained a fair relationship.

Recalling that thousands of people sacrificed to get freedom to India, Jakhar said that respective governments of different political parties had repeatedly used available forums time to time to ensure the freedom to raise voice against the rulers in a democratic system. Now when the central government enacted “black-laws” that violate the interests of the farmers, by stripping them of their right to protest, the Haryana government under Khattar’s leadership has insulted the great freedom fighters who sacrificed lives for freedom.

Jakhar told the Haryana CM that if he looks into your heart and hears the inner voice of conscience, he will agree that the “black-laws” will have the worst impact on the farmers of Punjab as well as Haryana. The Constitution of India, scripted under the leadership of great visionary leader Dr. BR Ambedkar, guarantees freedom to all citizens to move anywhere in the country without any restrictions. The Haryana government has thus violated the constitution by prohibiting Punjab farmers from going to Delhi, the PPCC president said.

He hoped from Khattar that Haryana Government will avoid reoccurrence of such undemocratic actions in the future, and respect the spirit of the Constitution as well as the pain of the farmers.
