Vet Varsity Ludhiana Teachers suspend OPD services

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | May 21, 2021 08:15 PM

LUDHIANA: GADVASU Teachers' Association (GADVASUTA) suspended OPD services today from 10 am to 12 noon. The protest was in context to malafide FIR registered against GADVASU teacher under the influence of high ranking judicial official. The actual case pertained to death of dog during handling by his own guards. High ranking official rather than blaming his own guards, misused his official powers and defamed attendee teacher and the prestigious institute.

GADVASUTA President Dr. Ashwani Kumar said that 100-150 cases are treated daily in our institute presented from Punjab and adjoining states, and clinicians have been working round the clock to provide the best possible services even in COVID pandemic and lockdown. The teachers today protested by wearing black badges and have suspended hospital services. Dr. Ashwani Kumar apologized for any inconvenience caused to livestock and pet owners of Punjab state due to protest. Dr. Kumar further said that if false FIR registered against GADVASU teacher is not quashed immediately then GADVASUTA will further intensify the agitation. He said that OPD services will remain suspended on Saturday i.e. 22 May 2021.

There is a wave of resentment in veterinary fraternity throughout the Punjab state as most of vets working in the state have been students of very sincere and competent clinician against whom false FIR has been lodged. Dr. Sarabjit Singh Randhawa, President Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association (PSVOA) expressed full solidarity with concerned teacher and GADVASU faculty. He also said that if FIR is not withdrawn immediately, they will suspend veterinary services throughout the Punjab state.
