AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami reached Delhi and expressed his condolences to the family members of Bhai Sawindar Singh who was martyred in the terrorist attack on Gurdwara Karte Parwan Sahib in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Advocate Dhami, attended the last prayers of Shaheed Bhai Sawindar Singh at Gurdwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Tilak Nagar, Delhi and termed the terrorist attack in Kabul as a cruel act against humanity. He was accompanied by Pal Kaur, wife of Shaheed Bhai Sawindar Singh and his son .
Expressing sympathy with Ajmeet Singh and other family members, he assured all possible help from the SGPC. Advocate Dhami said that the SGPC was with the Sikhs of Afghanistan and would always be committed to provide all possible help as required. He said that the government should take timely steps for the safety of Sikhs and other Indians living around the world so that such unfortunate incidents do not have to be tolerated.
The SGPC President said that although it was the duty of the governments to relocate the Sikhs trapped in Afghanistan to India, the SGPC would be present at all times for whatever was required in the process.
He appealed to the Government of India to bring all Afghan Sikhs to India and make arrangements for their well-being and special attention for their employment.
On this occasion Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami on behalf of the Shiromani Committee addressed the gathering. Ajmit Singh was blessed with Guru Bakhshish Siropa and turban.
The SGPC chief also met Bhai Sawindar Singh's family as well as Afghan Sikh leaders living in Delhi and discussed the number of Sikhs living in Afghanistan and the current situation.
Advocate Dhami also asked Afghan Ambassador Farid Mamundzai, who was present on the occasion, to ensure the safety of Sikhs in Afghanistan.
